Salem Youth Symphony is very excited to announce that Fred Korman, Principal Oboist of the Oregon Symphony from 1978 to 2006, will be our soloist on the December 12th Concert. Currently on the faculty of Oregon State University and principal oboist of the OSU-Corvallis Symphony, Mr. Korman maintains an active career as a player, teacher and consultant on the psychology of performance. He will be performing the Marcello Oboe Concerto with us. More about Fred Korman Announcing Jump Start date for the Youth Symphony group The second annual Jump Start event for the Youth Symphony group will be held Sunday afternoon, September 19, 2010 in the Chemeketa Community College Auditorium. If you would like to order a CD or DVD of the Winter Concert 2009, you can use the printable order form. Volunteer Log We use a Volunteer Log to keep track of the many hours that our families donate to support our orchestras. You can use the online Volunteer Log (thank you to the parent who suggested this at the parent meeting!). If you prefer, a physical log book will be available at rehearsals. Several summer music camps are listed- not as an endorsement, but as a place to start your research. Violin made by Tom LaDuke Henry Strobel has donated a beautiful, one-of-a-kind violin to the Salem Youth Symphony that was made by his friend Tom LaDuke. Mr. Strobel has given this gift so that proceeds from the sale will help Salem Youth Symphony serve student musicians. Interested students and other musicians are welcome to make an appointment to play the instrument. To make an appointment, please contact Joyce.
